1. I led you, my people, out of Egypt.

And for your saviour

you have a cross.

2. I opened the sea before you.

With a lance you have opened my side

3. I fed you with manna in the desert

and you have given me gall to drink.

4. I gave you a royal sceptre,

And you have giv’n me

a crown of thorns.

5. With great power

I have lifted you up,

and you have raised me up on this tree.
