Joe Bonsall, a longtime and cherished member of The Oak Ridge Boys, passed away this morning due to complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He was 76 years old.
Joseph S. Bonsall, known to many as Joe, was a resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Jennifer and Sabrina; granddaughter, Breanne; grandson, Luke; two great-grandsons, Chance and Grey; and his sister, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph S. Bonsall Sr. and Lillie Bonsall.
Joe Bonsall’s legacy in music is monumental. As a cherished member of The Oak Ridge Boys, he contributed to their enduring success and influence in country music. Joe was also a distinguished member of the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
In addition to his musical achievements, Joe was a prolific author, having written 11 books. His latest work, a memoir titled I See Myself, is set to be released this November. Joe’s passions extended beyond music and writing; he loved singing, reading, playing the banjo, and working on his farm. A devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan, Joe cherished these simple joys. However, his greatest devotion was to his faith in Jesus and his love for his family.
