Centricity Music / Publishing Signs New Artiste & Songwriter Bay Turner

Centricity Music and Centricity Publishing have entered into exclusive agreements with Turner, an alum of America’s Got Talent and BET’s Sunday Best. Represented by BrickHouse Entertainment and Platform Artists for management and booking, Turner is set to release new music after a journey marked by successes and health challenges that once threatened his music career.

Fascinated by the soulful sounds of artists like Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, and Stevie Wonder in his youth, Turner’s voice flourished during his college years. Following his undergraduate studies, he gained recognition in young artist programs associated with major opera houses worldwide. As his faith became a central aspect of his life, he began leading worship with the renowned Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

Just as Turner believed he was entering a new phase of his career, surgery to remove two benign tumors in his chest resulted in damage to one of his vocal cords, leaving him paralyzed. Doctors initially believed he would never sing again and advised him to refrain from using his voice for several months. However, subsequent tests showed his vocal cords had miraculously healed without any visible scar tissue, leaving even experienced ENT doctors puzzled.

Reflecting on his journey, Turner acknowledges that his faith deepened during times of adversity. He believes that the challenges he faced taught him to rely on God rather than solely on his singing abilities. Despite the hardships he endured, Turner expresses gratitude for the experiences that ultimately brought him closer to his faith.

Prior to the airing of his season on “America’s Got Talent,” Turner was approached by his new label home, who discovered him through a YouTube video of him singing a cover of CeCe Winans’ “Alabaster Box.” After attending an invitation-only independent artist retreat hosted by Centricity Music, Turner was signed to both a recording and publishing contract.

Stephen Floyd, Centricity Music’s A&R Manager, reflects on his first impression of Turner’s voice, stating that it was so captivating that he had to find out more about him. Floyd wanted Turner to be a part of Centricity’s future and was delighted to discover that he is not only a talented artist but also a remarkable person.

Chase Swayze from BrickHouse Entertainment also praises Turner, describing him as an incredible human who brings light to every room he enters. Swayze expresses his honor in partnering with Turner to share the message of Christ through music and expresses his team’s excitement for the future.

Since working with renowned Christian songwriters, Turner has developed a passion for crafting original music. He has co-written over 90 songs in the past 18 months and is currently selecting songs for his debut EP, which is set to release later this year. Turner’s artistry is a fusion of R&B/Soul, opera, Gospel, and modern worship, reflecting the diverse influences that have shaped him. His debut single, “Brand New,” will be released on May 3.

The newcomer expresses that there is no expectation for them to become someone other than who God has destined them to be. This realization relieves them of the burdensome expectations of the world. They acknowledge that as Bay Turner, they cannot achieve their goals on their own. Their purpose is to utilize the gifts bestowed upon them by God to bring Him honor. They firmly believe that the outcome is entirely dependent on God, and their role is simply to faithfully serve Him.
